My summer exhibitons are officially over. It’s time to get back into the studio and start painting again. First, here’s a bit of a rundown of everything I got up to in case you weren’t able to make it.
Cowes Week
This year I did Cowes Week a little differently. I worked with Musto to create the official Cowes Week merchandise for this year. This meant I spent the week parading around in my t-shirts and I held a mini exhibition at the Musto store on the Wednesday evening. I have a separate blog post dedicated to my time at Cowes.
The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta
Dartmouth regatta is very special to me. It’s really where I first began exhibiting. Each year there is such a great buzz and everyone is in the best mood. The volunteers and other exhibitors make it such a joy to attend. A good percentage of my clients are local to Dartmouth, meaning I spent a great deal of time chatting and catching up with familiar faces. This is such a highlight for me. The scariest thing at Dartmouth Regatta is always the weather. Overall we were very fortunate, with just a few miserable rainy moments. I go a bit overboard with my stand so thankfully all paintings are able to keep well and truly dry. I’m sure I’ll be in attendance again next year.
Southampton International Boat Show
The grand finale of the summer. What a fabulous ten days. I met so many wonderful people and sold a good mix of originals, prints and commissions. With the presence of so many big players in the marine industry, I also find SIBS a great opportunity to make some important business contacts. If you’re reading this and you think I could work with your business in some way, please do get in touch. I slightly changed my location at SIBS this year which meant that not only did I have more space to better display my paintings but I could also grab a daily glass of Guinness or a whiskey from the Marina stands opposite. It would have felt like a long ten days otherwise… I have already booked in for 2024 so I hope to see you there!
