Victory is an exclusive collection of five paintings in which I have upgraded my signature splash of orange to a splash of 24ct pure gold leaf from Italy. Each custom-made canvas is stretched over quality tulipwood.
In these five paintings, I wanted to use gold to glorify life on the water. For some, sailing is about getting that gold medal. For others, it’s about basking in the golden rays of the evening sun, or showing off golden riches accumulated from a life of hard work. It’s about living out your youthful pirate fantasies, searching for treasure of golden sands and private coves. Perhaps it’s about waking to golden skies as the sun peeks above the horizon, or maybe it’s just about getting the job done to sit in the club bar with a glass of golden rum.
For this series of paintings, I will be donating 10% of sales to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust inspires young people aged 8-24 to believe in a brighter future living through and beyond cancer. For many young people, simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis just isn’t possible. So, when treatment ends the Trust’s work begins. Through sailing and outdoor adventure, young people have fun, gain a new sense of purpose and self-worth, rediscover independence, and feel optimism for the future. They realise what they are capable of again – physically, mentally, and socially – and stop feeling like ‘the only one’. They start to re-establish their place in the world and can believe in a brighter future.
